As they say a picture is worth a thousand words but a video? Should be worth a million
words at least, correct?
So it doesn’t matter if you stayed at a great hotel or at a crappy one, in both
the cases the others need to know to be able to make the right decision and not
repeat the same mistakes. Life is about learning from others and not re-inventing
the wheel
Everyone who has stayed in a hotel or is going to stay in one is eligible to participate.
The best part is that you don’t even have to register or create a time consuming
sign up process with us (yes it gets better and simpler, so read on…)
Hotel list by destinations on Hotelly
The first user to upload their video review of a hotel listed in the link above,
which currently does not have a User Video, can earn up to GBP 10.00 by uploading
and rating the hotel.
As a fellow traveller you should preferably cover the hotel on
the following facets to give the other users a holistic view:
- Surrounding area and outside façade of the property – GBP 2.50
- Common areas like reception, lobby, restaurants, etc. - GBP 2.50
- The room you are/were staying in - GBP 2.50
- Recreational and amenities within the hotel like the Pool, gym, business centre,
etc. - GBP 2.50
Each of the facets is important and that is why each has been given a weightage.
But if you happen to shoot the video inside your hotel room but have given a good
qualitative narrative reviewing the hotel and our editors feel that it is good for
our other users then we might give you a higher weightage (decision of our editors
will be final and not to be questioned please)
You can even upload 4 different video clips covering the 4 facets we have mentioned
above and we will compensate you individually for those as per the value against
them above.
If you upload a video for a hotel that we already have the user video for or if
someone else has beaten you to it, then you would not be eligible for the 10 quids
but Hey don’t worry you would still be eligible for an entry into our monthly best
user uploaded video awards (click
here for more details)
Review Process:
Each uploaded video, in the share and earn promotion, will be checked according
to the following criteria by the Hotelly editorial team:
- Whether the video covers all the facets of the hotel as defined above
- Quality of footage (we know that most of you are not professionals and will be using
camera phones or digi cams but it should be of a quality that other users can make
use and sense of)
- Good lighting (when in doubt just think of if you had to make your hotel decision
based on a dimly lit footage, would you?)
- Video with original audio and voice over, no fancy music layover please (this is
not to be mixed with war of the DJs)
- The videos should be around 30-60 secs long. Shorter than 30 secs will not do justice
and very long videos will bore the others to death (we are assuming you do want
others to watch your video). So please keep it short and keep it crisp
Again decision of our editors will be final and not to be questioned please. We
are fair and honest people and know our users are the same

Please give us atleast couple of weeks to contact you once you have uploaded your
video.
